There’s this company that has filed a legal action against one of its top executives who ran off with its money. Our sources revealed that this local firm takes its name from a popular wireless technology, but it’s not really using that technology. The company is reportedly trying to pacify some of its subscribers. But our sources say the company is “hurting.” Why Max, anyone?

This country man, not an expat, is fond of whisky and singing. Apparently, his new paramour is fond of IT executives in the country.

This sexy actress who is livin’ la vida loca should not be confused as a relative of a popular Latin American singer, although she also used to sing in her 80s TV show, where she hung around with a dick.

That should be: The new NTC chief is clueless. An imperative sentence.

Sources reveal that the new NTC chief retired Navy general Abraham Abesamis is clueless about what his job requires him. He replaced former NTC chairman Ronald Solis, who turned out to be a champion for reforms in the telecommunications industry. But no, Malacañang has to replace him with Abesamis, which this blog says is not qualified for the job.

While Abesamis may be eminently qualified as Philippine Navy commander and PN deputy chief of staff, his military credentials can never be enough for such a civilian post as NTC commissioner. Civilian positions should be filled up by civilians, not by retired military personnel loved dearly by Mrs. Arroyo.

Militarist mindsets do not fit civilian posts which require maximum degree of democratic consultations, consensus-building and transparency. Militarist mindsets can never be shaken off within a few months of a general’s retirement.

Our sources say the CICT (yes that agency that has been losing its people to the ‘dark side’) has been dilly dallying on the issue lately. What’s ailing the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, the highest policy-making body in the country’s information and communications technology industry?

Early this year, its former chief resigned, followed by a commissioner (who is with a computer company’s call center operations here), and another for strange and mysterious reasons. Now, there was a report that another one has indicated plans of following suit next year. The chief is also not fearful of being booted out anytime soon by the powers-that-be, our sources reveal.

ICT has been in the backburners of government policy making since, god knows. When the Commission on Elections was found rigging its bidding for poll automation machines, that was the only time IT became mainstream story (oh, there was also the LOVE Bug story on Onel De Guzman). That was it.

What’s this we’re hearing. A Philippine medical transcription company is complaining of being “cut out” of a major event abroad?

The story goes: This company and some bigger companies offering medical transcription outsourcing services in the US went to an annual event. They were told they will be promoted under one banner — that is the “Philippines.”

Okay all things went well at first (btw, each company has to fork out some money to go there so it wasn’t free). Then there was a dinner event, which this company was apparently not invited. The dinner event invited only the “officers of these medical transcription organization.” Since this local company was not an officer of the local organization, it was left out. But they insisted of going. To their surprise, they found all the bigger players there, including “non-officers” sitting with potential US clients. The gall!!!

Moral of the story: bigger players will always dominate any industry. Smaller players will often get the crumbs. This is plainly corporate bullshit, where the “big boys” dictate what goes on.

National Telecommunications Commission chief Ronald Solis’ abrupt resignation buffled baffled many. Was he not doing a good job? The official reason: he wants to go back to private practice. Bull. That’s PR bull. Why would you leave a government post this powerful? Unseen forces are at work here. Our sources told us that the “Firm” has something to do with this. Yes, “the Firm” which is now running the political machinery of the current admin.
