What’s ailing the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, the highest policy-making body in the country’s information and communications technology industry?
Early this year, its former chief resigned, followed by a commissioner (who is with a computer company’s call center operations here), and another for strange and mysterious reasons. Now, there was a report that another one has indicated plans of following suit next year. The chief is also not fearful of being booted out anytime soon by the powers-that-be, our sources reveal.
ICT has been in the backburners of government policy making since, god knows. When the Commission on Elections was found rigging its bidding for poll automation machines, that was the only time IT became mainstream story (oh, there was also the LOVE Bug story on Onel De Guzman). That was it.
Like what this tech column is suggesting, I think we need a Seldon plan.
